What the host is for
Someone to introduce, connect and keep the event moving.
On a comedy night, the MC usually opens the room, introduces each act and holds the evening together between sets. At an awards dinner or company event, a comedy host may present awards, move people through a programme and add humour without turning the whole night into a club show.
The exact responsibilities are agreed around the brief. An MC can be booked on their own, included in a complete comedy night, or considered alongside an individual comedian.
Where it is used
Venue nights, awards, fundraisers and company events.
Comedy hosting is useful wherever the room needs a confident, audience-aware presence: introducing acts, presenting awards, linking speeches, or helping a fundraising or corporate audience settle. The tone still has to match the guests, the occasion and any subjects you would prefer to avoid.
We work across the UK with hosts at different stages of the comedy circuit, from experienced club comperes to better-known names, and with entertainment budgets from around £500 to £50,000 depending on the event.
